Dinesh Singh Rawat
Founder & Senior Partner – Dinesh Singh Law Associates (DSLA)
Lawyer | Researcher | Institution Builder | Legal Policy Strategist
Dinesh Singh Rawat is a lawyer, researcher, and institution builder with an international outlook. He is known for integrating research-based legal journalism, strategic courtroom advocacy, and policy-oriented legal practice. With more than a decade of experience in litigation, arbitration, and advisory work, he has built Dinesh Singh Law Associates (DSLA) as a multi-forum law firm serving Indian and global clients before District Courts, Statutory Tribunals, High Courts, the Supreme Court of India, and international arbitration forums.
Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat began his professional career as a research journalist and policy analyst, focusing on the intersection of law, governance, public policy, and institutional performance.
In 2010, he led a landmark research initiative examining India’s justice delivery system and its colonial English legal foundations. The study analysed court procedures, access-to-justice barriers, pendency trends, and structural inefficiencies across judicial institutions. Its findings deeply shaped his worldview and became the intellectual foundation for his transition into legal practice.
His research work has consistently focused on evidence-based analysis using public records and court data, institutional performance audits, legal-policy explainers on complex statutes and judgments, and transparency and accountability in governance.
This grounding in research journalism continues to inform his legal methodology. It enables him to approach litigation, arbitration, and advisory work not merely as case-based representation, but as part of a wider institutional, procedural, and public-policy framework.
Transition to Legal Practice
Motivated by the systemic gaps he identified through his research, Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat formally pursued legal education and completed his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2014.
In the same year, he founded Dinesh Singh Law Associates (DSLA) with a group of like-minded advocates and researchers. The firm was established with a clear institutional purpose: to combine legal knowledge, research discipline, and public-interest commitment in the service of justice.
DSLA continues to be guided by its founding motto:
“Justice is Everybody’s First Natural Right.”
Practice & Expertise
Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat advises and represents clients across all levels of the Indian judicial system, from District Courts to Statutory Tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India, depending on the nature, complexity, and stage of each matter.
His practice covers civil and commercial litigation, criminal defence and white-collar crime, constitutional and administrative law, arbitration and mediation, corporate and regulatory advisory, and real estate and infrastructure disputes.
He is recognised for research-intensive pleadings, precise drafting, and strategic case architecture. His approach ensures that every matter is supported by verified facts, comparative jurisprudence, procedural clarity, and sound legal reasoning.
Institution Building & Judicial Reform Work
Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat actively contributes to judicial reform and institutional strengthening initiatives. He supports research and policy work through the Association for Judicial Reforms of India (AJRI) and serves as Founder-Chairman of the Gandhinagar Arbitration & Mediation Foundation (GAMF).
Through GAMF, he is working to develop next-generation arbitration and mediation frameworks, including a proposed digital arbitration centre at GIFT City. These initiatives reflect his commitment to making dispute resolution more efficient, technology-enabled, accessible, and institutionally credible.
He consistently advocates stronger integration between law firms and independent research platforms. In his view, future-ready legal practice must be grounded in continuous research, policy intelligence, comparative legal study, and a deeper understanding of institutional performance.
Leadership Philosophy
Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat’s leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that law is not merely a profession, but a public service. His approach to legal practice is shaped by accessibility, fairness in representation, independence, ethical advocacy, and a disciplined commitment to research before argument.
Under his leadership, Dinesh Singh Law Associates (DSLA) follows an assignment-based case strategy. The firm treats every matter as unique, studies its facts and legal context independently, and designs a focused strategy according to the client’s legal position, procedural stage, and practical needs.
DSLA also offers 24×7 phone-based consultancy for clients facing urgent legal exigencies. This reflects the firm’s commitment to timely legal guidance, especially where delay may affect rights, remedies, liberty, property, or business continuity.
Vision
Mr. Dinesh Singh Rawat envisions Dinesh Singh Law Associates (DSLA) as a globally credible, research-driven law firm committed to combining legal practice with institutional insight, policy intelligence, and public-interest responsibility.
His vision for DSLA is to build a legal institution that integrates researchers into active legal practice, advances arbitration and mediation culture, contributes meaningfully to judicial and regulatory reforms, and delivers timely, effective, and humane justice.
This vision reflects his belief that the future of legal practice will depend not only on courtroom advocacy, but also on research depth, ethical independence, technological readiness, and a clear commitment to improving access to justice.
